Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I purchase strawberries already picked?
Yes! You can purchase them by the quart or by the flat (10 lbs) on our farm or at a local farmer's market.  You may call to reserve yours, or drive-up.

Will you be selling at any farmer’s markets this year?                                  Yes! You will see us at the Becker Market in Willmar on Thursdays from 3-6:30 and the Wild Hare in Clara City from 3-6 (or until we are sold out) and the Willmar Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings.

How will I know what markets you will be at?                                                 Join our Facebook page or our e-mail list for updates.

May I pick my own strawberries and raspberries? Yes!

Are children allowed in the strawberries beds?
YES!!! You will make priceless memories when you take your children to our farm and let them 'help' you!

What hours are you open? It varies.  Keep an eye on our Facebook or website homepage, or join our e-mail list to find out.  Feel free to call to make sure we weren't cleaned out in the morning, or the day before!  We are closed on Sundays.

Do I need to come the first few days to get the "big" berries?
No! You get to pick from eleven strawberry varieties that ripen at different times. You may come a week, or even two or three weeks  after we open and pick in a variety that has just ripened.

Do I need to bring my own containers?
You can help save the environment by bringing your own containers, which we will weigh before you go into the field.  If you don’t have your own, we will provide you with waxed cardboard flats.

If it has rained, will I get muddy or wet?
You get to walk on clean straw mulch around the strawberry plants. You may get a little wet, but you will not get muddy – unless you go to the end of the row and roll around like some of our younger visitors:)

May I pick berries in the rain?
It is your choice if you want to continue picking, but if there is lightening we request that you come in from the field.

Do you take credit cards or debit cards?
No. We only accept cash or checks.

How do you make strawberry jam?        You can purchase a box of Pomona's Universal Pectin from us.  It is a natural and low-sugar alternative to the pectins sold in big box stores.

Will the strawberries ripen after they are picked?   No

How long will the strawberries keep in the refrigerator?                          Nearly a week, if you do not wash them or take their stems off until you are ready to eat them. Store them in the lower part of your refrigerator, uncovered or loosely covered.

How do you wash strawberries?
Put them in a colander and rinse them off with cool water. Do not soak them in water.

How many acres of berries are you picking?                                                  2.5 strawberries; 0.5 raspberries

What do you call strawberries in a suitcase? ... JAMpacked!
